Crawford Romagnola,
Crawford Farms, Rx Romagnola, Livingston, Alabama
Romagnola Cattle originated in the Po Valley
of Italy and represent centuries of development as draft and
meat animals. They are a very hardy breed that thrives on sparse
habitat. Their calves are typically small, long and slender
and they experience very little calving problems. The calves
are born small but gain weight and muscle definition very fast.
The greatest value of Romagnola is cross breeding with British
and Continental cattle to add rapid and heavy muscling with
improved carcass traits. They deliver the hardiness associated
with Braham cattle as well as the added advantage of heavy
muscling and good temperament. The Bos Indicus bloodlines of
Romagnola crossed with the Bos Taurus bloodlines of the British
and Continental cattle produce heterotosis and high yield.
At Crawford Farms, we have some of the finest
Romagnola genetics represented in our cattle’s pedigrees.
